In June 2015, a small shop unit on 365 Green Lane was rented as a Masjid, with a capacity for just 55 worshippers. Since then, our local Muslim community has grown a lot bigger. As a result, we began performing four Jummah prayers with one Jummah prayer taking place in a local Church, which we rented for two hours every Friday.
The need for a larger premise became clear.
By the grace of Allah, in September 2019, we purchased a freehold warehouse, just a minute walk from the original unit. We are glad to announce that Masjid Al Adam opened just before Ramadan in 2022 and is now fully operational.
The focus is now to clear the outstanding debt of £860,000 with your generous donations.
Our vision has always been clear – we opened our Masjid to safeguard and promote spiritual, emotional and physical wellbeing for members of our community, whilst embodying the true teachings of Islam as intended by our Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).
We aspire our Masjid to be the heart of the local community in many aspects, where people can not only pray but access help, advice, knowledge and support on a wide range of issues and needs. It will endeavour to promote greater community cohesion through dialogue and working together with other local organisations. We envision a Masjid where people of diverse backgrounds and ages can ultimately feel welcome and at peace.
We want to create not only a place of worship, but a hub for community activity.
